The title of this blog is a favorite quote from Gretchen Rueben's book, The Happiness Project. I admit, I do catch myself wishing away some days, some seasons of life, hoping for better things. The years pass quickly and when I look back I realize those WERE the better things. In an effort to capture those better things I begin this blog. The details of my life are many things: mundane, quirky, sad, joyful, and hopefully, at times, entertaining. About three years ago my life was pretty much an open book when I blogged about our family's struggle with leukemia. When that was over I closed the book. I now open it again----well, at least a few chapters

“The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears, or the sea.” --Isak Dinesen

We're back!!!! Can you feel the feigned excitement in those exclamation points? Very reluctantly left the heavenly weather, but on the other side, there is no place like home.  I love this quote I found for the title of this post. In the last while I have dabbled in a great deal of the first two of the salt waters, but oh, it was nice to enjoy the last one this week. Maybe the ocean isn't a fool proof cure for everything, but it is a heck of a good substitute for reality. Here are a few picts of our adventures.

Here is where the adventures all began at the Great Falls airport.

Endless fun at the beach! Sunsets were amazing!

The San Diego Temple was like a fairy tale castle. Breathtaking.

The Mormon Battalion was great fun for the kids. They even got to pan for gold. Check out Coop's monster gold nugget.

The Zoo and Sea World were also fun outings. My fav was Shamu. Wish I could have been close enough at the show to get a picture of him. Always wanted to be a marine biologist when I was a kid. I could watch whales all day.

Bucket list item checked off for the boys. To say they were over the moon for Legoland would be a huge understatement. Even the girls and the grandparents were surprisingly impressed. Incredible displays. All made of Lego of course.

Here are a few shots of our vacation rental, just steps from the beach.

All in all it was a fun get away!

California Here We Come!!!!

To end this NEVER ENDING winter, some drastic action was necessary. I figured heading 20 hours south would do the trick. Can't wait to spend time with my family and restore my vitamin D levels. Legoland and Sea World are on the top of the kid's lists. Reading on the beach is on the top of mine. Hopefully we all get what we want. I hope to take a lot of fun pictures to capture the warmth when I return home to the frozen wasteland. If I can figure out how, I will post some picture updates of our trip. If I can't, I guess you will have to wait 'til we get back.

HAPPY EASTER!
